![]() While waiting to hear more, read about how Nintendo is hosting a 20-minute Indie World Showcase tomorrow. With that in mind, it’s not surprising at all that Nintendo has Metroid Prime 4’ release listed as TBA. Then, in 2019, Nintendo announced that it was completely restarting development of Metroid Prime 4. This is less surprising, considering the game was announced years ago only to go dark after that. Many predicted that the indefinite delay came as a result of the ongoing war in Ukraine so perhaps its release date remains “TBA” as that conflict is still happening.Īlso of note in Nintendo’s financial results is that Metroid Prime 4 has an expected launch date of “TBA” like Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp, too. This is especially surprising because Nintendo delaying its games is already quite rare. With “TBA” set for its expected launch, it doesn’t sound like Nintendo is certain this remake package will even release this year, which would represent quite the delay for the game. Then, Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp was delayed again, this time indefinitely. This could be worrisome for fans of Advance Wars because the remakes were originally set to release in December of 2021 before they were delayed to spring of this year. The current development status is very challenged, and we had to. ![]() I think Metroid Dread & it’s speed is more to my liking. However, the chart above also lists Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp as TBA. Nintendo has rebooted Metroid Prime 4 and placed series developer Retro Studios in charge of the title’s ongoing development. I’ll probably skip Prime 2 if it is remastered, but keep an eye out for Prime 4 news. It even lists Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet as “Late 2022” releases, which sounds like it is lining up Generation 9 to hit in the usual holiday – see: November – release window. I also manage Mecha Damashii and do toy reviews over at .Other 2022 releases Nintendo expects to actually hit this year include Mario Strikers: Battle League (June 10), Xenoblade Chronicles 3 (July 29), Splatoon 3 (September 9), and more. In any case, the real question remains what with Phazon gone, what will be the main source of strife in Metroid Prime 4?įollow me on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. Overall, Metroid Prime 4 is in very safe hands now and this rebooting of development is only a good thing as far as I am concerned. If Metroid Prime 4 had stayed with Bandai Namco, potential remasters would have likely been handled by them and not by the people who originally worked on the Metroid Prime trilogy.Īdmittedly, Nintendo may outsource potential Metroid Prime trilogy remasters to other studios but having Retro Studios working on the latest game means they will at least have more input then they would have otherwise had. Porting the old Metroid Prime games to the Switch would help with promoting Metroid Prime 4, as well as giving it some much-needed context to modern gamers. This is more of a hope on my part but it would make sense now that Retro Studios is involved again. We May Even Get Some ‘Metroid Prime’ Trilogy Remasters Out Of This Going back to Retro Studios makes a great deal of sense, as it allows Nintendo to work with a studio that intimately understands the series and can also benefit from learning from the mistakes already made by Bandai Namco on this new game. It seems my concern was well-placed and Nintendo has now pulled the plug on that studio. When Metroid Prime 4 was announced, my main concern was whether Bandai Namco could deliver on the game in a design sense. Spanning the GameCube and Wii, these three games rewrote how Metroid as a gaming series could work, all with some amazing level design to boot. The original Metroid Prime trilogy is a fantastic collection of games. Retro Studios Know ‘Metroid Prime’ Better Than Anyone ![]() The result is often a game that is much better than one that was allowed to limp on through feature creep, not to mention that the overall budgetary expenditure tends to be less as well.
